Introduction
The seminar "Introduction to Autocad 2010 2D" is organized by the specialized high-tech company Digital Academy created by the Group of Lecturers of the NTUA Multimedia Technology Laboratory. It is an intensive seminar that is carried out through the Distance Learning method, giving the learner the flexibility to follow a complete digital design learning program through Autocad from any place and at any time, via the Internet.
The seminar is organized in 10 modules, is completed over a period of 12-15 weeks and corresponds to 140-160 lesson hours.
Topics
The seminar is structured in 10 main thematic sections:
1. Familiarization with the working environment of the program
This section is essentially the first introduction to the program. That is, the guidelines for managing the program options are given and the basic concepts and functions of the program are explained.
2. Using the basic commands and toolbars
This section provides an introduction to using commands and managing toolbars.
3. Commands Categorization – Formatting and Editing Commands
The commands are separated according to the desired task to be performed. The learner is now able to complete a simple synthetic design task.
4. Specialized drawing commands
At the end of this section, the presentation of the commands related to the design of objects is completed.
5. Familiarity with drawing in layers
The learner is introduced to the logic of design layers, which are important for the correct organization and printing of the design.
6. Block creation, object import and editing, and hatching
This section deals with grouping the designed objects for optimal handling, importing other files and drawing the designed objects.
7. Design dimensioning
Import dimensions and callouts and their formatting options.
8. Insert text and tables
This section describes the options for entering text and tables and their formatting.
9. File print options
Explanation of possibilities and different methods of printing our work.
10. Cooperation of autocad with other programs
The last section describes the options for saving the file so that it can be edited by other design programs.
Methodology
According to our educational program, the material is divided into 10 educational units corresponding to 15 teaching weeks. Each module is accompanied by the corresponding exercise - project with the aim of assimilating the teaching material. The program concludes with a final exam. The distance learning program is based on the latest version of the free software (open source) Moodle, which is implemented on the PHP & MySQL programming platform. The online courses are hosted on proprietary servers incorporating state-of-the-art technologies.
After the seminar
Nowadays, the digitization of design has prevailed and Autocad is becoming an essential tool in the hands of engineers of any specialty. Upon completion of the seminar, the trainee can be employed in positions related to the digital design of architectural, mechanical, static, topographical, energy and other studies, as well as use the knowledge provided to improve the efficiency of his work.
Purpose of the seminar
The purpose of the seminar is to become familiar with digital design through the AutoCAD 2010 program, which is one of the most basic computer design programs. The basic aim is for the trainee to be able to carry out a complete two-dimensional architectural or engineering design, having a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the program's capabilities. With this method he understands the basic concepts and functions of digital design so that he can adapt them to his own needs.
