Introduction
The seminar "Designing Dynamic Websites with PHP and MySQL" is organized by the specialized high-tech company Digital Academy created by the Group of Lecturers of the NTUA Multimedia Technology Laboratory. It is an intensive seminar carried out exclusively by the Distance Learning method, allowing the learner to follow a high-level scientific training program from his home or office or from the place of his choice and the time of his choice, via the Internet.
The program has been designed in such a way by the laboratory, so that it combines high-level theoretical knowledge but also ways of designing and implementing web applications using the most dynamic programming language (PHP), which, with the independence from the hardware system that characterizes it has truly revolutionized the creation of applications for both the Internet and Intranets. The seminar consists of 9 modules that are completed over a period of 4 weeks and corresponds to 140-160 hours of lessons.
After the seminar
After the seminar, the trainee will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to:
To know the PHP programming language, and the principles of dynamic WEB programming.
To develop critical thinking and initiative in simple planning and problem solving following simple programming methods.
To be able to implement simple PHP applications and sites (forms, database integration). Critical thinking, design initiative and the implementation of programs in PHP will be developed by the instructors providing ready-made programs (scripts) implemented in PHP, weekly assignments and also the final project, lasting 2 weeks.
Purpose of the seminar
The purpose of the training program is to provide the necessary resources and scientific qualifications to programmers and other interested parties with little prior knowledge of programming through a Windows-based environment.
The course is intended for people who have no previous experience in dynamic WEB programming or have very limited experience and would like to go deeper and significantly improve their knowledge level.
Topics
- Introduction to Dynamic Web Design and PHP.
- PHP Basics.
- Functions and Tables.
- Forms and Cookies.
- Databases
- MySQL.
- File Processing.
- Objects and Classes.
- Final work.
Methodology
According to our educational program, the material is divided into 9 educational modules and is concluded with a final assignment lasting two weeks. The program uses the latest version of the free software (open source) Moodle, which is based on the PhP programming platform. The online courses are hosted on proprietary servers incorporating state-of-the-art technologies such as: Processor 2 x Intel Pentium XEON hyperthreading, Memory 32 GB DDR RAM, Hard Disks IBM SCSI U320 HDDs @ 15000 rpm Raptors HardWare RAID 5. The central interface with the Internet is carried out through EDET (National Research and Technology Network) and is of the order of 1 Gbps (EDET has a 2X622 Mbps connection to the INTERNET - Pan-European Research Internet GEANT).
